Nigeria’s Super Eagles Earn $1.7m Despite Confed Cup Exit

Africa’s representatives at the Confederations Cup, Nigeria has exited the competition, earning $1.7 million in prize money.

The team only managed to place third in Group B, which also had World champions Spain, Copa America champions Uruguay and Oceania champions Tahiti.

As Spain, Brazil, Italy and Uruguay progress to the semi-finals, all other sides – Nigeria inclusive – earned a total of $1.7 million each.

A jackpot of $20 million will be split amongst teams that progressed to the semi-finals based on their final positions in the competition. Spain, Brazil, Italy and Uruguay are all in the running to win the $4.1 million attached to winning the Confederations Cup.
