This is a sad effect of environmental pollution, the Lagos State Government has to do more...
Students faint after inhaling chemical
Twelve students of the Ogba Junior
Grammar School, Ikeja, Lagos, yesterday fainted during school hours
after inhaling a chemical substance. It was the second time such
incident took place in the same school.
The first happened last year when over
20 students fainted after inhaling chemicals and started vomiting before
they were rushed to hospital.
The source of the chemical was yet to be known at the time of filing this report, but officials of the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) and the Lagos State Emer-gency Management Authority (LASEMA) were trying to ascertain its source.
The affected students were taken to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) where they are currently receiving treatment. Attempts by our reporter to speak with the principal of the school proved abortive as he was said to have accompanied the students to LASUTH.
Other members of staff refused to comment. General
Manager of LASEMA, Dr. Femi Osanyintolu said the incident would be
investigated to unravel the source of chemicals within the environment.
