New Year Message from President Buhari to Nigerians

Welcome to the beginning of a New Year of the continuation of CHANGE in our beloved nation. I am aware that Nigerians have experienced a number of significant hardships over the past months. Living in the State House has not alienated me from your daily sufferings. I am aware of the lengthy queues at fuel stations and of the difficulties businesses have faced in acquiring foreign exchange.

These challenges are only temporary; we are working to make things better. When I presented myself to you as a presidential candidate and asked you to vote for me, I wanted to be a leader who keeps his promises. I wanted to be a leader who restores the people's hope in those elected to serve them. I wanted to be a leader who initiates positive and enduring CHANGE.

I am still totally committed to being that kind of leader. Unforeseen circumstances and other distractions notwithstanding, I shall still do my utmost best to keep every promise I made to Nigerians during my election campaign. In the past seven months since our inauguration on May 29, 2015, my administration has focused on laying the right foundation for the CHANGE you voted for during our historic presidential election. Nigerians will in due course begin to enjoy the fruits of all our ongoing work.

The effective and efficient implementation of our 2016 budget proposals will address many of the socio-economic issues that are of current concern to our people. One area in which Nigerians, especially those in the northeast, have already begun to experience major CHANGE is in the war on terror. I commend our Armed Forces for significantly curtailing the insurgency which has ravaged the northeast of Nigeria over the past few years.

However, there is still a lot of work to be done in the area of security. Our Armed Forces will maintain, consolidate and build on their successes in the war against Boko Haram and violent extremism. This government will not consider the matter concluded until the terrorists have been completely routed and normalcy restored to all parts of the country that have been adversely affected by the Boko Haram insurgency.

Our crackdown on corruption will continue to be vigorously undertaken. I urge the courts to support our efforts and help in the recovery of stolen funds by speedily concluding trials and showing that impunity no longer has a place in our country.

There is much work to do in other areas as well and I have charged all my ministers and other appointees to ensure that Nigerians experience positive changes in their lives in 2016. We must reduce our country's reliance on oil. We must diversify our economy.

And we must do all we can to promote job creation. Our challenges are many but our determination to succeed is strong and unshaken. So too is our confidence in God. I wish you all a very

Happy New Year.
MUHAMMADU BUHARI

Today, December 31 is Sir Alex Ferguson's Birthday

There are many ways to become a success in football. Sir Alex Ferguson might not have set the world alight as a player but as a manager, he is one of the true greats. So, as a fan of the game, I salute him on his 74th birthday.

I used to hate Manchester United because of hi -his teams were almost always so good!

Hacking of Lagos State Website Shows Vulnerability of Government Websites

The recent hacking of the Lagos State Government website by an obscure group seemingly in support of the Shiite group led by Sheikh Zakzaky in Zaria has shown the vulnerability of many websites operated by different governmental agencies.

The tech world in terms of structure is the opposite of the bureaucratic set-up of the public service and all-too-often, government-owned websites are subpar in terms of development.

Therefore, it is important for the federal and state governments in Nigeria to employ more IT experts and encourage them to work creatively.

This will help to reduce the chances of a repeat of such an attack. However, such attacks may be impossible to prevent 100% because hackers are usually more skilled than those trying to block them. However, the more experts you have on your side the better for you.

This is a national security issue and should be treated with all seriousness to prevent any abuse of the information of Nigerians on many government websites.

Learn 9 Critical Questions Every Business Should Ask

Stop Acid Reflux It With These 5 Home Remedies!

The acid reflux can be mild and chronic in short period of time. You can use some medications to ease the pain, but homemade natural remedies are more healthy and helpful.

Many of these remedies can help with heartburn and eliminate the acid reflux. You can try to avoid some food that triggers the acid reflux as well. Relax while eating and chew the food properly.

Apple Cider Vinegar
The acid reflux happens because the excess amount of acidity in the stomach. You can drink 1-3 tablespoons of raw ACV to reduce the acidity. The ACV is alkaline-forming so the body will not need to produce too much acid to digest the food. Before a meal you can also take ACV to breakdown the food and absorb it easily. With the help of the enzymes the ACV can help the digestion, preventing the acid reflux.

Lemon
Lemons can also help eliminate the acid reflux. Lemons just like ACV are alkaline-forming so they can neutralize the acidity in the stomach. You can try drinking one tablespoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice 10 minutes prior a meal and prevent the acid reflux to happen. If you already have an existing acid reflux, you can drink one tablespoon lemon juice early in the morning, before lunch and one before dinner.

Ginger
The ginger root can help as well. You can chew peeled ginger, you can drink ginger tea or even use ginger lozenges to reap the health benefits. You produce more secretion to the bile helping the digestive system. Enzymes are beneficial for breaking down the food that is not properly digested.

Aloe Vera
Many people use the Aloe Vera for its health benefits. It can also help with the acid reflux due to its ability to soothe irritated tissue and fight the inflammation. It can also be very helpful with digestion. Mix the translucent flesh of the aloe vera leaf with orange juice and drink it. You can also use the clear gel. The outer part of the aloe leaves act as a powerful laxative giving the intestines the possibility to digest food easily.

Enzymes
You can improve your digestion and lose weight at the same time by implementing enzyme rich foods in your diet. They can help breakdown the food and can help absorb the nutrients as well. Human can produce enzymes on their own, but sometimes due to certain health issues an enzyme deficit can occur. This is why you need to consume enzyme rich food like ginger, papaya, pineapple, raw nuts, raw vegetables and raw fruit. They can help fight the acid reflux.

Have a Look at the Amazing Mantis Shrimp with Its Super-Punch

Could Muslims Have Played Major Roles in the American War of Independence?

Ok, Donald Trump has managed to steal the headlines with the his "banning Muslims from America" proposal. However, what many Americans don't know is that Islam has always had a strong influence on America; from the study of Islam and the Qur'an by Thomas Jefferson, principal author of the Declaration of Independence; who was elected the second Vice President of the United States and the third President.

Going further, what if Muslims actively took part in the quintessential demonstration of the 'American spirit' embodied in the fight against British colonialism called the American War of Independence? What would it mean for America, its relationship with Islam and Muslims?

It turns out this might be the case if you go by the following excerpt from the Mail & Guardian's feature –The Muslims who shaped America:

"Muslims were part of the US from its very beginnings. Among those who served under the command of chief of the continental army, General George Washington, in the war against British colonialism were Bampett Muhammad, who fought for the Virginia Line between the years 1775 and 1783, and Yusuf Ben Ali, who was a North African Arab.

Some have claimed that Peter Buckminster, who fired the gun that killed British Major General John Pitcairn at the battle of Bunker Hill and later went on to serve in the Battle of Saratoga and the battle of Stony Point, was a Muslim American. This may be so, but the chief ground for the claim is that Buckminster later changed his surname to Salem or Salaam, the Arabic word for peace.

But clearly Washington, later America’s first president, didn’t have a problem with Muslims serving in his army. By giving these Muslims the honour of serving America, Washington made it clear that a person did not have to be of a certain religion or have a particular ethnic background to be an American patriot. Trump seems to want to overturn that venerable American principle.

The largely Muslim kingdom of Morocco, incidentally, was the first country to recognise the US. In 1786, the two countries signed a treaty of peace and friendship that is still in effect today, the longest unbroken treaty of its kind in history."

It seems to me that the only reason Donald Trump can pull the "ban Muslims from America stunt" is that America has lost focus and a clear sense of identity which is evident by the collective amnesia of its people and its history.

The fact is: Islam is not new to America and is not likely to leave it any time soon.

Snapchat is Down and I Really Don't Care

So I read Snapchat is down but I really don't care about it because I have not really "gotten" how useful it is to me. If you are just learning about this app for the first time, let me try and explain how it works.

You do instant messaging with pictures and videos in addition to text on Snapchat. Your recipient or recipients can view your picture or video which disappears after a set period.

Perhaps this might be good for enriching chats but outside of this, I really cannot see the big deal. I prefer WhatsApp and Twitter over it.

I wish the Snapchat team and users the best as they fix its problems.

How About Some Polar Bear Cuteness?

Cute but deadly,:Adult Polar bears in the wild see humans as food

Polar bears are undeniably cute but don't be fooled by their looks, they are as deadly as any other predator you can think-off; lions, tigers and all perhaps even more so because they see human beings as prey when they are in the wild.

Cool! You Will Soon Be Able to Stream Live Videos on Facebook

One of the reasons Facebook is so successful is that it has managed to continually scan the tech-space for cool features it doesn't have and work quickly to deploy them from video chat, using hash tags to stickers. These are just a few examples of updates to Facebook and now live streaming is about to join the list making the social media giant a competitor to Twitter's Periscope and Meerkat which already support this feature...

Facebook starts rolling out live video streaming to everyone

In an attempt to take on Twitter's Periscope, Facebook is starting to give all of its users the ability to broadcast live video to their friends and followers.

This comes after the social network started to bring live streaming to select celebrities this summer.
On Dec 3, Facebook turned on live video streaming for a small subset of its US-based users on iPhones, bringing a live video broadcast button to their status update form. Live video streams automatically appear in their friends' Facebook news feeds, and broadcasts that have concluded are saved in the timeline like any other video.

Facebook announced the new feature with a blog post, including a description that sounded eerily familiar to anyone following the social live streaming boom of late: "During your broadcast, you'll see the number of live viewers, the names of friends who are tuning in, and a real-time stream of comments."
